Unit 1: Foundation - Research-led practice
This unit explores the core principles of event design, including foundational concepts, design elements, design principles, and color theory. It emphasizes research-led practice, examining business opportunities within the event and entertainment industries.
Unit 2: Event & Wedding Design
This curriculum encompasses a comprehensive range of event design skills, including presentation techniques (sketching, graphics, 3D rendering), cultural considerations, sustainable practices, fabric and draping techniques, floral design, lighting, exhibition design, performance design, and production planning. Students will develop practical skills in venue layouts, furniture design, vendor selection, trussing, table styling, and pricing and budgeting services while exploring key concepts like experience design and design thinking.
Unit 3: Design project practice
Develop professional design proposals, apply research, explore software, and present solutions.
Unit 4: Collaboration
This unit emphasizes collaborative practice, encouraging students to develop and produce ambitious designs with peers. It emphasizes expanding the scale and ambition of their practice through research, mentorship, and presentation of outcomes (drawings, sketches, 3D model render).
Unit 5: Realisation
The program's culmination involves a self-directed Final Design Project, refined through research. This project will be presented to a professional jury, emphasizing practical experimentation and documented evidence.
